Chicagoist hasn't been out to the UC to see a Bulls games this year, but they apparently show this video on the scoreboard during halftime at some games:

If green is the new black and localvore is the word of the year, then what does it mean when eating locally is not only not necessarily better for the environment, but could actually be worse? An article in the NYT challenges the notion that "fresh" and "local" add up to "green." The article presents data from UC Davis's Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program. Tom Tomich, director of the program, told the NYT that...
Fun Fun Fun Fest 2007 Recap from Super!Alright! on Vimeo. Austinist attended a town hall meeting about proposed noise ordinances that could undermine the city's future as the Live Music Capital of the World, and lamented the possible loss of Texas's only feminist bookstore. Throughout the week, they interviewed a bunch of indie fashion designers and D-I-Y websites—Etsy, Ornamental Things, 31 Corn Lane, and Aorta Designs—for the upcoming Stitch Fashion Show. They also did...
What is it with the wives of Chicago sports stars? A few years back, Antonio Davis's wife made headlines for her bouts of road rage and attacking fans at the UC. Now Misty McMichael, the wife of former Bears wild man Steve "Mongo" McMichael, is making headlines after being arrested for speeding, marijuana possession and possession of an unregistered gun last week. Lincolnshire police investigator John-Erik Anderson stated that, "[The arresting officer] asked the occupants...
It's been a long time since Chicagoist was on a good scavenger hunt. Too long. But the lucky folks at the University of Chicago have an opportunity to do so every year. The 21st annual University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt (aka Scav Hunt), where UC students partake in a 4-day scavenger hunt that takes them around campus, the city, and on road trips (not to exceed 1000 miles), began first thing yesterday morning. The 300+...
The Miami Heat, led by the Shaquille O'Neal of old (30 points, 20 rebounds) overwhelmed the Bulls at the UC last night, winning 113-96. We began to appreciate just how well Tyson Chandler played defense against Shaq, before spraining his ankle -- he had another subpar night, playing just 18 minutes as foul trouble again plagued him. Nocioni, Gordon and Hinrich each contributed 20+ points of offense, once again, but it wasn't enough to keep...
Chicagoist wonders if that Barenaked Ladies song is running through the head of Michael Axelrod, one of the fans involved in the incident at the UC the other night that caused the Knicks Antonio Davis to jump into the stands to protect his wife. Yesterday, Axelrod's lawyer Jay Paul Deratany said they planned to sue Davis and his wife for more than $1 million, alleging that Kendra Davis battered him and Antonio Davis slander him...
It's been a while since there's been as much excitement at the UC as there was last night. The Bulls won an exciting 106-104 game on a Ben Gordon shot as time expired in OT. Having missed a nearly identical shot with seconds left in regulation when he could have dished to an open Darius Songaila, he redeemed himself with the game winner. But that shot may not have been the biggest excitement at the UC.
The Bulls welcome the Orlando Magic to the United Center tonight, their first home game in over two weeks. They concluded their annual "Circus Trip" on Sunday, when they beat the Houston Rockets 94-89. That win pulled the Bulls record on the West Coast swing to an even 3-3.
Chicagoist can't take this anymore! This toying with our emotions is just too much. The Bulls came THIS CLOSE to winning tonight's Game 5 against the Wizards after falling behind by more then 20 once again. A furious run in the closing minute, and the Bulls came from 10 down in the final 41 seconds to tie the game at 110! Ten points. Forty-one seconds! Really only 36 seconds because with 5.2 seconds left, Washington...
The 106-99 score of last night's Bulls-Wizards game masks how Washington dominated the game. While the Bulls closed to within single digits at the end, they spent most of the game trailing by 20 or more. Washington first went up by 20 at 42-22 and pretty much held that margin until the Bulls started closing in during the 4th quarter.
Another busy weekend for Chicago sports, so we'll just give you a brief rundown of what's happened since Friday Garland Now 5-0 The White Sox beat Detroit 8-0 on Sunday, lead by Jon Garland's second consecutive 4-hit shutout. The victory improves Garland's record to 5-0 and drops his ERA to 1.38. He's the first pitcher in the AL to 5 wins and his ERA leads the league, as well. Not bad for the Sox's 5th...
Once again, the Bulls have been banished from home so that the United Center can host another event. Today, the Big Ten's men's basketball conference tournament tips off at the UC. The opening round slate includes Northwestern vs. Michigan, Iowa vs. Purdue and Ohio St. vs. Penn St. The top 5 seeds have byes, with their first action coming tomorrow. The Trib's Mike Downey shares a few tidbits about this year's tournament. For example, in...
