Again, the weather sucks today. So when the band names Electric Tickle Machine and SUNBEARS! dropped our way this afternoon we had to toss in some songs and give 'em a listen. And who if they ain't a 180 from the scene outside our window! Hell, we started playing them and daisies suddenly sprouted outta our water bottle! The tunes are all horns and sunshine and psychedelic smiles that on a bright day would be downright borderline creepy, but on a day like today their strangeness is a welcome rescue from the clouds and soggy concrete surrounding us.

While Fate gave the Cubs another goggled punch in the gut last night, Mother Nature smiled upon the White Sox. As soon as the rainbow disappeared, Scott Podsednik appeared riding on the back of a unicorn. Benjy and Chuck tell me this is further proof of why I root for the "wrong" team.

Lest we should forget amongst talk of birth certificates, factory sit-ins, and clemency, the City of Chicago is still competing for the 2016 Summer Olympics and supporters got a boost today when Chicago 2016 Chairman Pat Ryan announced a deal with the property owner of Michael Reese Hospital has been restructured such that both parties can agree, meaning the proposed Olympic Village will go up on the site.

Under the new plan, Medline’s “charitable contribribution” will rise to $32.5 million. And instead the overall purchase price will rise by $1 million — to $86 million.
