Sometimes you just need to face reality and come to terms with the fact that when you're thisclose to 40 like us, you need a little kick in the ass to get you to sunrise. Gone are the days when we had the world by the curlicues, when Mom lived equidistant between Marie's Riptide Lounge and the old Blue Note on Armitage, and we could stagger out of either establishment at sunrise for some biscuits and gravy.

Movie Roundup
Winter is a damn good time to just sit around and drink coffee and watch movies. Stuff to watch:
Review: Twilight
What's the most hotly-anticipated event of the fall besides the presidential election? The release of Twilight, a movie based on the best-selling young adult novels by Stephenie Meyer. Security was so stringent at the press screening, not even Roger Ebert got off easy. Cell phones had to be turned in prior to admittance and everyone was wanded. So has all the expectant frenzy been worth it? In our view, Twilight may not be the movie everyone has been anticipating. And that's entirely a good thing.
Another Chance to Be Terrified
Halloween is over. Tuesday night was certainly the complete opposite of scary. But if you're still in the mood for something ghoulish White Light Cinema has got your back. This Sunday at the Music Box they're presenting a special screening of the incredibly rare meta-vampire flick Vampir-Cuadecuc. Not available on DVD, this 1970 film was directed by Spanish filmmaker Pere Portabella and stars Christopher Lee -- playing Christopher Lee playing a vampire. Sort of. It's a documentary but it isn't, and it's also creepy.
