Chicagoist is a sucker for old photographs of Chicago, so we were pleased to learn of Shorpy, the 100-year-old photo blog, from Palla Palla. This photo "Wabash Avenue El: 1907" was the first to suck us in. From there it was over. So many great photos of Chicago from so long ago. We also especially love "Southside Easter: 1941" and "Pabst Over Chicago: 1943." The photos of Chicago are our favorites, but we love all of them really. Which photos do you like?

Remember that new kid in school who seemed hell-bent on not fitting in? You know, the one who didn’t seem to care about making friends and wanted everyone to know what a badass s/he was, right off the bat. Yeah, looks like Macy’s is that kind of new kid.

Wabash Avenue north of Wacker and the Wabash Avenue bridge over the Chicago River are now open again, as of last Friday. The section of the street next to the Trump Tower project was closed while crews ripped down the Sun-Times Building and rebuilt the viaduct.
