Will Ferrell did the introductions for last night's Bulls-Hornets game in New Orleans, and he poked fun at each of the starters.
Will Ferrell Pokes Fun At The Chicago Bulls
Tuesday Diversion: Battle of the SNL Boat Songs
Well, kind of. We recently enjoyed The Lonely Island's (which includes current SNL cast member Andy Samberg) "I'm On A Boat!" video (featuring T-Pain). Pretty clever and who doesn't love mermaid references? But it gnawed at us a bit: where had we seen it before? Turns out, we had seen it from former SNL great Will Ferrell who, with pal John C. Reilly, had done a video called "Boats 'n Hoes" for their 2008 film Step Brothers. Both are inspired bits of humor and get us laughing on another cold, gray winter Tuesday. [Language very NSFW]
Chicago International Film Festival Begins Today
You'll have to forgive us if it seems like we've got a one-track mind when it comes to film lately: CIFF is one of our absolutely favorite things about Chicago, and every year brings the thrill that comes from attempting to see as many movies as possible in its two weeks. The Opening Night feature at the Chicago Theater last night was Stranger Than Fiction, directed by Marc Forster (Monster's Ball) and starring Will Ferrell,...
Dustin Hoffman Is A Very Good Actor, Says CIFF
In the biggest celebrity-related Chicago film news story since Crazy Tom Cruise hit town to kiss-and-make-up with Uncle Steven, the organizers of the Chicago International Film Festival announced that their annual lifetime achievement award will go to Dustin Hoffman. This year’s fest will run from October 5th through the 19th and will screen Hoffman’s Stranger Than Fiction, which lensed here back in May and co-stars Will Ferrell, Emma Thompson, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. It was written...
Chicagoist Has A Fever And The Only Prescription Is More Ditka
Chicagoist’s love for the 1995 collegiate male bonding film Kicking and Screaming has been well documented in this space. In a time when indie films of people sitting around talking were being churned out as fast as Parker Posey could make them, K&S earned a special place in our hearts if only for the scene with the “Broken Glass” sign.
Will Ferrell Totally Wants You
Having finished their work at UIC last week, the makers of the film Stranger Than Fiction move downtown to Daley Plaza this June and are looking for some authentic city background. This means you. If you’re looking to gaze longingly at Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Dustin Hoffman (from a respectable, non stalker-y distance and God help you if you ask for an autograph!), then why not become an extra in the film? Alert reader...
Christmas at the Movies: Resistance is Futile
Well, it’s official. The start of the Christmas season is underway as workers have begun erecting the city’s official tree in Daley Plaza. You can’t fight City Hall and those who do get bulldozed so it’s time to wave the white flag in the fight against the encroachment of the holidays.
