Today's Weather: Foreboding

We've started out with a mix of clouds and sun but soon the clouds will lower and thicken ahead of an incoming storm that could dump anywhere from 5 to 9 inches of snow on locations throughout the area. Highs may or may not crack 20 degrees in most places with breezes of up to 10 mph. After that, it's a wait-and-see game for the snow, which Skilling says should reach the city later tonight, between 7 and 10 p.m. Lows will be in the mid-teens overnight as we should see somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 to 2 inches of snow fall before the worst of the storm fires up tomorrow. more ›

Snow On The Way

Not only will we have some bitter cold this weekend but it looks like there may be a new blanket of snow across the area. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area starting tomorrow night and running through Friday morning. While the NWS is still hashing out details, their initial forecast puts us in a swath of snow that could reach seven to nine inches deep. Skilling puts the forecast in pictures for us. more ›

Frightful Weather on Tap This Week?

While the Chicago area has already seen two measurable snowfalls in the last week, it may be small beans if a storm developing out west takes just the right track at just the right time. While the sun has made some appearances this weekend, more snow moves in tonight with the chance of up to another inch accumulating along with some frozen rain, though the National Weather Service says there will be no ice accumulations. Still, all weather eyes are focused on Tuesday when a storm could bring a significant winter precipitation event to the area. more ›
