Sammy Sosa is on the 15-day DL today after suffering a sprained ligament in his back earlier this week. As the result of sneezing. Well, “bending action from the sneeze…technically led to the back spasms and sprained ligament,” but still. G’bless you, Sammy Sosa. Carlos Zambrano is pitching tonight in San Francisco Chicago, where the Cubbies were shut out last night; Kerry Wood should be back in the line-up this weekend in St. Louis. Here at the Chicagoist sports analysis office, we'd like to send out a memo to MLB players: smile in your team headshot.
Chicagoist saw Randy Johnson on the street a few weeks ago, outside of Bloomingdale’s on Michigan Avenue. Admittedly, no words were exchanged, but there was frantic giggling (from Chicagoist) and a polite “thanks for not making a scene” nod (from the Big Unit). We were understandably thrilled to see Mr. Johnson throw a perfect game, even if when Chicagoist saw him he was wearing the ugliest sweater in all of God’s green goodness. Way to be, Randy! We're with Gothamist on the mullet, btw.
