Triple Train Accidents

Yesterday, during the morning commute, two pedestrians were killed by trains in separate incidents. The first accident happened just before 8 a.m. when a Metra train struck and killed a 72-year-old woman. The second accident happened just before 11 a.m. when an Amtrak train struck and killed a 60-year-old man. In both of these accidents, the person stepped onto the tracks, turned to face away from the train, and did not move even though the conductor repeatedly sounded the train's horn. These fatal accidents, of course, caused long delays and just about the time that service was restored to normal, an inbound Amtrak train hit an SUV. The vehicle was on the railroad tracks when it's occupants saw the train coming at them. They then jumped out and ran. The SUV was damaged, but no one was hurt.
Chicagoist believes that being hit by a train is a horrible way to choose to commit suicide, although almost all ways to commit suicide seem horrible. Also, WTF were those people in the SUV doing!?
