"El" Trabajo

kim1.jpgThe CTA is planning to spiff up it's image with a few El station repairs, planning next spring to fix up the Grand Avenue station (registration required for Crain's) and then Clark and Division in 2006. CTA construction crews are pretty busy these days, with that work along the Dan Ryan Red Line Branch, the Blue Line Cermak Branch, and next year's plans to begin rehabbing just about every freaking station along the Brown Line (will this rehab include going back to the cool, old "Ravenswood" name?).

Unfortunately all "progress" requires some demolition, and the new stations along the Brown Line are no exception. Demon Dogs under the Fullerton stop is set to meet the bulldozer next year as is the Tiny Lounge under the Addison Brown Line stop. We're not sure if Demon Dogs will be reincarnated in a new location, but one of our favorite bartenders at the Tiny Lounge, Adam, assures Chicagoist that the bar will be moved across the street. Thank God, there will still be at least one joint in town to get a decent drink.
