2004_6_ordonez.jpgA number of worrisome rumors have been swirling in recent days regarding White Sox All Star outfielder Magglio Ordonez. The first one proved true today, as the Sox placed Ordonez on the Disabled List. He'd been out of the line-up since May 25 due to a knee and calf injury. Arthroscopic surgery may be necessary, which means Ordonez could be out until the All Star Break.

The DL rumors weren't the only ones plaguing Ordonez in recent days. Newsday decided to cause a little controversy on the South Side this weekend by claiming that contract negotiations between the White Sox and Ordonez had broken down. Ordonez quickly denied the rumors. The White Sox have supposedly offered a 5-year, $70 million contract extension to the outfielder, who will become a free agent at the end of the season. Let's hope Sox GM Ken Williams doesn't blow things...
