Senior Auctions off School

An anonymous senior at Niles North High School in Skokie put his high school up for auction on eBay as a senior prank. The listing reads

"This North Shore School is located across the street from Old Orchard Mall. It has an attendance of aprox. 2500. It has full athletic facilities and many class room. All have been renevated recently due to a referendum. Included are several million dollars in slightly used electronic devices inc. digital projectors, computers, and printers. Many bathrooms and a full service cafateria. (bathroms may be needed when using cafeteria) football stadium with new lights, and newly paved parking lots included. If Bid goes over 5 dollars, will add state ranked chess team. Faculty is not included with bid but may purchased at nominal cost."

According to the Trib, a bunch of people bid on it.
The best part of this story is that this kid did not get in trouble. A spokesperson for the district told the Trib that "It's funny," and that school officials did not plan on investigating who created the post. That seems like an oddly rational and good-spirited approach from high school administrators, who are typically--no offense--not known for their senses of humor. Also, considering the other potential pranks were gluing locks shut and releasing crickets in the school, the administration kind of lucked out. Go Vikings!
