Charity Runners

2004_06_charityrunner.jpgAlthough the Chicago Marathon isn't until October, Chicagoist wants to let you know how you can start right now and help raise money for the American Cancer Society. Charity Runner is an organization that not only helps Chicago-area runners dedicate their miles to a friend or relative whose life has been touched by cancer, but also offers free training and support with the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA). If you are not a runner you can sponsor runners and make donations to the American Cancer Society.

Partnered together, Charity Runner and CARA have Fun Runs on Tuesday nights. They're also having their team kick-off party on July 1 at Kelsey's on Lincoln Avenue. There will be $12 drink specials and food - come out and socialize and find out more about the Charity Runner program.

Chicagoist has said before and we'll say it again: We don't run. So instead, we made a donation to help Charity Runner meet their $500,000 goal by October. You should help too. It's a worthy cause and really, is there anyone you know who's life hasn't been affected by cancer in some way? If you are a runner and would like to sign up to become a Charity Runner, register here.
