Cook County to Ban Mini-Scooters

At times it seems government exists purely to be a big, taxing kill-joy. In that vein, the Cook County Board is considering legislation that will ban mini-scooters -- from both streets and sidewalks. Chicagoist is not really sure when it became popular to ride these things, but apparently there's swarms of them flying all over the suburbs. The ban wouldn't affect Vespas and the like (those are cool and all European-looking, so no ban), but the legislation does make Chicagoist wonder if the ban will affect that revolutionary mode of transport, the Segway.
As a side note, Chicagoist is impressed with the intense team coverage the Chicago Tribune brought to this story. No less than four reporters were busy covering this very important story. Good work Tribune!
