Chalk One Up For Openness, Right?

Everyone knows divorce is bad. Bad for you, bad for me, bad for the kids, bad for society. And as you may have heard, Republican U.S. Senate Nominee Jack Ryan is divorced from none other than The Borg Babe, Jerry Ryan. Ryan and Ryan have a child, and for various reasons, they agreed to seal some of the records of their divorce proceedings. Lawyers for both of the parties have said that the contents would be damaging to their child, and so they go their seperate ways.
But the dilligent reporters over at the Chicago Tribune and WLS-TV smelled blood in the water (particularly after finding red meat in the divorce proceedings of former Democratic Senate Candidate, Blair Hull) and kept at it. Now, after months of wrangling, our intrepid heros at the Trib and Channel 7, have managed to get the records opened. Despite the fact that presiding Judge Robert Schneider believes, "the nature of publicity generated will become known to the child and have a deleterious effect on the child," the records will be opened next Tuesday, "so that the public ... can be assured that there is no favoritism shown to the rich and the powerful."
Whatta country!
