Bye-Bye Scooters

Following up on this hot, hot, hot story, Chicagoist was very upset to learn that yesterday, the Cook County Board voted 13-3 to ban motorized scooters. It's a story we've been following closely with both perplexion and amusement. Why the heck is this a big enough deal that the gears of government have to address the issue?

The ban has got a while before it goes into effect though. First the Board has to ratify the vote on July 16, and then a six month public information campaign will be mounted (We suggest: "Winners don't ride scooters!"). So we imagine there will be a whole lot of scootin' between now and January.

Chicagoist would like to invite helpful readers to post comments with links to pictures of Cook County citizens enjoying motorized scooters. We think this would be a helpful to public awareness of the sport, and it would be just damn funny.
