Chicago's #3 Status in Jeopardy

Everyone knows Chicago was once ranked #2 in the United States in terms of population.. that's how we get the Second City nickname. Then Chicago slid to #3 behind Los Angeles.. and now Houston is threatening to take our position and bump us to #4.
New estimates by the US Census Bureau released today show that Houston added 56,507 residents (3%) in three years and now has a total population of 2,009,690. Chicago, on the other hand, has lost about 27,000 people (1%) in the same amount of time. Our total population is now 2,869,121.
If you feel hot around the collar, that's Houston breathing down our necks! Chicagoist has been to Houston and we can't really understand why so many people would want to live there! In our opinion Austin is the only city in Texas really worth visiting. And poor D-Town, Detroit Cit-ay! Our pal, Uncle Grambo, lost 40,000 of his nearest and dearest making Detroit the the city that is shrinking the quickest.
