Obama Shows The Bling-Bling

Electoral politics is very much a money game these days, so yesterday Democratic Senate Nominee Barack Obama's campaign announced that in the last fundraising reporting period, Obama raised $4 million, and will report $3 million on hand. That's a record for any Illinois U.S. Senate candidate, and translates to the campaign raising $43,956.04 a day, between April 1 and June 30.

The Federal Elections Commission reporting deadline isn't until July 15, so tipping your hand to the press early is certainly a bit of gamesmanship on Obama's part -- particularly when the Republicans are trying to convince any potential Jack Ryan replacements that taking the job wouldn't be a complete joke.
