Following an escalation of the on-air feud between Dan McNeil of the Mac, Jurko & Harry Show and Jay Mariotti, ESPN Radio 1000 has pulled both radio personalities off the air for Friday's shows to give them each a "breather."
The two personalities have been sniping at each other for days over comments McNeil made about a run-in Mariotti had last week with his other feuding partner, White Sox broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson.

Program Director Len Weiner said the two weren't suspended. "I'm treating them to a couple of vacation days," he said. "Every once in a while we need to step back and take a breather. I can't wait for them to get back on the air."

While McNeil admits he was asked to ride the bench Friday, Mariotti is claiming that his vacation day was previously scheduled and not at the request of Weiner. He expects to return to the air on Monday while McNeil will return to the air July 19th following a planned vacation.

Chicagoist thinks Jay Mariotti needs to learn how to play well with others. We understand the passion that sports brings out, but you're supposed to be professionals. If we want to hear unnecessary sniping along with our sports talk, there are hundreds of nice sports bars throughout the city. We expect a little more from those who get paid to talk sports.
