Tuesday, Bears players report to training camp in Bourbonnais, IL. In their first camp under new head coach Lovie Smith, there is work to be done to improve from last year's 7-9 record into a playoff contender. According to the Tribune, there are five goals to meet in order to turn around the Bears. Chicagoist finds it hard to believe its that simple...

There's buzz on the eve of training camp that the Bears may be in position to make a big trade. All Pro Running Back Ricky Williams' surprise retirement this weekend leaves the Miami Dolphins in a lurch. With Anthony "A-Train" Thomas relegated to back-up status behind free agent signee Thomas Jones, Miami may be interested in swapping for defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, who is holding out in a contract dispute.

The Bears have their own contract hold outs to deal with as well. First round draft pick Tommie Smith has yet to sign a contract and may end up holding out. However, the payer and the team do not seem to be too far off. Harris claims, "I think I'll be there. It's absolutely important to be in camp on the first day. But I also want a fair contract."

For the fan who wants to venture out to Bourbonnais, training camp offers a chance to check out the Bears up close for free. Training camp is open to the public beginning Wednesday, July 28th. In addition to watching the Bears practice, fans can participate in daily youth football camps, kids only autograph sessions, the Lay's Kids Zone and more.
