Ritzy Park for Upscale Dogs

South Loop dogs are soon going to have one heck of a park - complete with a wading pool, a miniature Buckingham Fountain, a canine agility course and a doggy sandbox. A miniature Buckingham Fountain? For dogs? And just what is a canine agility course!?
The half-acre park will be located at Grant Park, where the real Buckingham Fountain is located. And get this.. its name will be Grant Bark Park. We think it's in competition for Chicago's worst dog park name along with Wiggly Field, which is located on Sheffield. Groan.
The city already has nine public taxpayer-supported dog parks. Advocates say that the new park is needed since dogs are not allowed in Millennium Park and since the South Loop has seen a jump in the dog population due to new upscale canine-friendly condos and townhouses in the area. Construction is due to begin in the spring.
