Obama, Obama, Obama

7-28-04-obama.jpgThat's all everyone seems to be talking about in Chicago news today (here too). He's the shining young star of the Democratic Party this election cycle with the looks of Denzel, the speaking style of Martin, and the cutest and most supportive family this side of the Cleavers. And man, he’s getting news coverage – but mostly from Chicago media.

Despite the fact that Obama made the convention prime-time address, a spot that traditionally is reserved for the most important speeches of the week, the national media is instead focusing on other, seemingly lesser speakers of the night. The Washington Post and New York Times led their convention coverage discussing Sen. Ted Kennedy and Teresa Heinz Kerry's speeches, with some mention of Gov. Howard Dean and Ron Reagan. And not surprisingly, The Boston Globe focused on their hometown boy, Sen. Kennedy.

What gives?
