While only early August, it sure felt like football weather yesterday! So it was only appropriate that the Chicago Bears took the field for their first preseason game.

Playing against Head Coach Lovie Smith's old team, the Bears defeated the St. Louis Rams 13-10 in overtime. Despite a rash of penalties, they kept the game close and stopped a key Rams drive late in the 4th quarter by recovering a fumble. On the opening kickoff in overtime, kick returner Ahmad Merritt returned the ball 87 yards to set up Paul Edinger's game-winning field goal.

While the Bears are now 1-0 in the preseason, it may be a bit too soon to start dreaming of Super Bowls. But just in case, you might want to begin pricing flights to Jacksonville.
