Gay Games VII Only 2 Years Away

2004_08_19.gaygames.gifWe're a little late on the pickup for this one, but the Gay Games are looking for board members. Gay Games VII will be held in Chicago July 15-22, 2006, and if you have experience in corporate travel, foundations, corporate fundraising, donors, band or choral, culture, logistics, health care or planning and production of large-scale events, and you support the principles of diversity and gender parity, you should should apply to be on the board. Board meetings will be once a month.

Event organizers expect around 12,000 participants in 30 sports, hailing from 70 countries.

The Gay Games are open to anyone. There are no qualifying events, no minimum or maximum requirements, and no mandatory affiliations. The Games are built on the founding principles of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best, and promote a supportive environment, free from bigotry, where participants achieve success by their own measure. More than a tournament or cultural program, the Gay Games is a gathering of the international sports and arts community that changes lives, attitudes, and the very nature of competition.

You can register now to participate in events—no qualifying times necessary. OK, the games aren't until 2006, so we all have plenty of time to quit smoking and learn how run fast. Eeh, it'll be our New Year's resolution in 2005.
