Free Yoga Classes

In the grand Chicagoist tradition of being cheap and not necessarily hating B-list celebrities, we bring you this: the Find Your Balance Yoga Festival will be in Lincoln Park (like, the actual park) on Saturday, with special guest yogi Mariel Hemingway. The event is sponsored by Clairol, so there will also be “hair consultations” in addition to all the bi-curious humor and yoga-mat giveaways.

There are yoga classes and autograph sessions throughout the afternoon, plus performances by Charlotte Martin, whom we have never heard of. But uh, you get a free yoga mat and free yoga classes, so it’s not a total wash.

Just to throw this out there, is anyone else bothered by the “mind-body-beauty” slogan? Because, while we are huge fans of beauty and all, isn’t that the slot that’s usually filled by spirit? Mind, body…spirit? Aw, fuck our spiritual identity—we need some natural-looking highlights superbad.
