Cheap Date of the Weekend

By Margaret Lyons in Miscellaneous on Sep 10, 2004 8:15PM

Has anyone else seen all those ads that say "play dodgeball in your car" or something? Yeah, we sort of didn't get it, but it turns out that (turn off your speakers) Put It In Play is in 2004_09_10.flag.jpgtown this weekend. Head on over to U.S. Cellular's Lots A, B and C to race around in Toyota's car-dealership-meets-playgroud activities. Is this just a huge marketing strategy? Sure. But you get to race cars and stuff, and that seems cool, if vaguely unsafe.

Events include Prodriver Speedtag, Capture the Checkered Flag, High Octane Red Light Green Light, and the aforementioned Vehicular Dodgeball. All of these seem pretty obvious—driving fast, doing some other shit, etc. We can get down with that. When you get tired of zipping around there's also skeeball, "car-e-oke," foodstuffs, and other carnival-type events. You have to be 18 and have a driver's license, but the event is free.
