A Los Angeles judge has ruled Michael Flatley, star of The Lord of the Dance and Riverdance, can sue a Waukegan lawyer for extortion for threats made over his client's rape claims. D. Dean Mauro is the lawyer and his client is Tyna Marie Robertson. Robertson accused Flatley of rape last year but her case was dismissed due to lack of evidence. Flatley maintained that the sex was consensual.
Mauro, the attorney, threatened Flatley in letters, saying he would ruin the Chicago-born Irish-American dancer by making the allegations public if Flatley did not pay his client $1 million. In addition, Mauro threatened criminal prosecution or to leak the story to the media unless "seven figures" was paid. The LA judge ruled that in California Mauro's actions constituted extortion.
Chicagoist took our mom to Riverdance in the 90s and must admit that we had a good time.. in that "Mom, let's go to the theater for your birthday" kind of way. But honestly we are surprised that this guy could consensually get laid. Not sayin, just sayin. Who knew he could even move any part of his body except his fast-movin feet?
