Mellencamp & Babyface in Milwaukee - Photo: jsonline.comJohn Mellencamp and Babyface are on a two-week Vote for Change tour right now trying to raise funds for Kerry in swing states. They were supposed to go to Miami to play on Friday but after their concert in Milwaukee last night they decided to skip the heat and stay in the area to play a Chicago concert on Saturday. We don't know about you, but with the temperature in the 40's this morning, we'd be headed to Miami in a heartbeat. Besides that, IL isn't even really a swing state.

A Mellencamp spokesperson said, ""It was not cost-effective to go cross-country so he figured he'd play Chicago, where he always gets a good crowd, and raise funds there. Illinois is already solidly in the Kerry camp, but if it helps the cause a bit, that's a good deal too."

Tickets will put you back about 50 bucks (plus service fees) and go on sale at 10am today. You can get them on Ticketmaster, Mellencamp.com, or by calling 312-559-1212. Oh, and because of federal regulations concerning the artists' involvement with Vote for Change, only US citizens 18 and older may buy tickets for the show.

Does anyone else think that Mellencamp and Babyface are an odd pairing? Here's a review of their Monday show in MI. A review of their Tuesday show in Milwaukee is here.
