Bargain Bin

There are plenty of options in the $20 range if you're looking for some musical entertainment tonight. But let's face it: we're broke. So if you're looking to see some mellow live music, here are three options that The excellent band Hot Waffles. Image: http://www.cafepress.com/hotwaffles5
will allow you to spend your last twenty dollars before tomorrow’s payday on the finer things in life.

First, Chicagoist knows that at the end of a shitty-ass day sometimes you just want to curl up into a fetal position on the floor and cry for your mama. (No? Well, it’s just us then.) And though you can’t go back to the womb, Oedipus, you can revisit the memories of your misbegotten youth at Kitsch'n on Roscoe. Just imagine Mom’s cooking up some meatloaf while listening to her Peter, Paul and Mary records as you take in Folk Music Night this evening starting at 7 PM.

Or if you’d rather get your country on, head to Wrigleyville’s Uncommon Ground for the bluegrass stylings of Jake Armerding. Originally from Boston, Armerding is on a tour of the Midwest to promote his self-titled 2003 album. Stop by and congratulate him on the Red Sox win. Opening will be Candian Jory Nash. His most recent album is Spaz Loves Weezie. Great title. Show starts at 8 PM.

Finally, speaking of Canadians, the band Canadian Cold Front will be providing music to drink Guinness by at Galway Arms on Clark.

By the way, if you've got money to blow, tickets are still available for Barry Manilow at the Allstate Arena. Cause Chicagoist knows how you love “Mandy” despite your protests to the contrary.
