Naperville Backs Down on Underage Smackdown

By vouchey in News on Nov 18, 2004 12:47PM

random_house_party.jpgBack in June, Naperville enacted a law that fines teenagers $100 for being in close proximity to underage drinkers. Since then, the Naperville City Council has heard no end of complaints from parents upset about their "good" kids getting fined $100 just for being near the bad, drinking kids.

Anyway, the Naperville council members voted last night to exempt 19 and 20 year olds from the law. However, the remaining law covering 18 and under people may not stand up in court, as Seamus Norkett experienced this past summer.

This just seems like a nutty law. Chicagoist is wondering where is the ACLU on all this?
