Winter Parking Ban Now in Effect

Chicago Snow - Photo: www.dingley.net/ barber/Illinois2.htmlIf you got up and couldn't find your car it may be because it was towed when Chicago's overnight parking ban kicked in early this morning. And officials are warning not to "test" them or they'll be presenting you with a MINIMUM $150 towing fee and a $50 ticket. Ouch.

The parking ban on the city's "snow route" is from 3am - 7am and applies even when there isn't any snow on the ground. The snow route includes about a dozen main streets that cover about 107 miles. A seperate ban goes into effect for an additional 500 miles of city streets when there is at least 2 inches of snow on the ground. When does the winter parking ban end? Not until April, which seems like forever away, doesn't it?
