Rick Bayless' Cuisine Reins Supreme!

Flay v. BaylessChicagoist totally &hearts's Iron Chef - we swear we've seen like every episode and we still watch it over and over. So it's only natural that we've been eagerly awaiting the debut of Iron Chef America. Gone will be the voice dubbing, exotic theme ingredients (shark fin, anyone?), and little asian actresses giggling (unless you count Julie Chen), but still.. we watched all of the American specials they broadcasted and we're sure we'll be watching all of this new series too. Any way you serve Iron Chef, we just can't get enough!

On Sunday at 8, Rick Bayless, chef at our own Frontera Grill & Topolobampo, is taking on Iron Chef Bobby Flay and we're hoping to see Bayless wipe the floor with Flay's pompous ass. Seriously. We can't stand the guy. We embrace "New York Attitude," which some excuse Flay as having, but it's more than that. He always just seems to come off as an annoying prick to us. Remember when Flay jumped up on the counter on Morimoto's cutting board? Are you with us?

The secret ingredient for this series premiere episode is buffalo, with which Flay most likely will make Southwestern dishes and Bayless, Mexican dishes. The winner in our hearts is Bayless already! We looove Mexican food. And just how many sauces can Flay really put on buffalo anyway? Tune in Sunday, or for a rebroadcast next Wednesday or Saturday, to see Bayless prove that his cuisine reigns supreme!
