What's in it For Me?

Sorry for the lack of posts today.. much of the staff, and we're guessing (hoping!) our readers have the day off to commemorate MLK. We finally got around to dragging our asses over to the computer this afternoon and noticed that the Trib has a new online offerring for it's offline subscribers, the Chicago Tribune Subscriber Advantage, which is designed to reward customers with exclusive online offerings, premier events, valuable offers and customized news and information. It's free.. but again is only available to subscribers of the newspaper.
Specifically, program benefits include:
» Subscriber-only advertiser discounts and offers
» Exclusive invitation-only events hosted by the Trib's advertisers
» Special Q&A sessions, screenings, and events with members of the Trib editorial team
» Entertainment Expert Help Desk that makes recommendations for social occasions and helps with research projects
» Complete access including browsing the past-week's print edition, 365-day archive search and customized news on the home page.
Chicagoist just signed up in like two seconds. We weren't sure if it would work because we only get the Sunday edition, but it seems to have let us in. Now we're lookin at 15% off at United, some Chicago screensavers, along with the things listed above. The MyNews seems promising. There are checkboxes for subjects or locations you can have on your customized page along with text-entry fields where you can type anything you want in.
We don't know if we'd ever sign up to get the Trib to gain access to these online features, but they seem to be a nice added bonus for paying for a paper you can totally read online.
