Four!

2005_01_four.jpgThe owners of Salud and Cans are opening a new club called "Four" in the space where BigWig used to be. Four is appropriately named, since it is open late - til 4am, at least. They've actually been around for a couple weeks, but this weekend, Thursday, January 20 - Saturday, January 22 is their official Grand Opening.

Four is described as "luxurious and stylish" and "comfortable yet classy, with service to match." Sounds a lot different than Big Wig already! There's a DJ booth in the club on the mezzanine level and on each side of it are cascading staircases joining the levels. The main level is where the dance floor is and the mezzanine is where you go to lounge (makeout) with "friends" or stare down at the dance floor to find that someone you want to bring up to the mezzanine to makeout with. There's also a back room with a backlit bar and a glowing ceiling that can be booked for special events and private parties. The entire front of the Four is a glass wall facing out to the Milwaukee/Ashland/Division intersection.

Each night this weekend Four will will open at 9pm and won't close until 4am, 5 am on Saturday. The cover charge is 10 bucks each night.

Chicagoist is kind of just glad that when Big Wig closed they didn't take down that whole corner, including the Mexican restaurant that's been shut down forever and the Polish restaurant, to build new condos or something.
