The Field Museum and 93XRT are inviting us all to spend an evening with Jacqueline Kennedy and strangers next Thursday, Jan. 27, at their Play the Field mixer.

A $15 advance ticket gets you in the door and buys you a cocktail and admission to the Jackie exhibit. In addition, the 21+ age limit and 6:00–11:00 p.m. timeframe lock out the toddlers and tourists who might otherwise harsh on the elegant vibe that is simultaneous art viewing & potential-life-mate shopping, to which we can only say “whew.” (These cultural meet & greets – see also: MCA’s “First Fridays” and the Art Institute’s “After Hours” – must be the new millennium version of sock hops.)

Also on hand to augment all the schmoozing and socializing will be Goose Island Beer, Jazz vodka martinis, Trapiche wines, and food by Corner Bakery, along with our good friend and favorite matchmaker, Sue the Dinosaur. Local bands Maggie Speaks and Underwater People are scheduled to provide the tunes to which y’all can groove while making eye contact with random hotties. (FYI: we’ll be wearing black.)

Where: The Field Museum

When: Thursday, January 27, from 6:00–11:00 p.m.

How: Advance tickets $15, available through The Field Museum, or $20 at the door (if available). 21 & over only. All proceeds benefit The Field Museum.
