Sun Times Columnists Come Out Swinging

Chicagoist knows how hard writing a regular column can be. It was hard writing about something new every week in our high school paper. Student Council doings only went so far.
But today, Sun Times columnists Michael Sneed and Neil Steinberg tossed out the one-two punches. First, Sneed outed the gently simmering conflict between former Lipinski's Bill and his now-Congressman son Daniel, and 23rd Ward Alderman Mike Zalewski. Former-Rep. Bill was rumored to have promised the rep job to Zalewski, or at least the ward comitteeman job. But now Bill won't give it up. Zalewski is leaving shared office space with Rep. Daniel Lipinski, suggesting a serious rift on the Southwest Side.
And in DuPage County, Sneed reports that Republican U.S. Rep. Henry Hyde might resign his job soon. Hyde, a long-time pro-life advocate, famously got the "Hyde Amendment" passed, which cut Medicare funds for abortions. Hyde's district has been changing, and he's been thought of as vulnerable for some time, so this would be the right time to pass on the torch.
But if that isn't enough, Sun Times columnist Neil Steinberg took some digs at Eric Zorn, and then made some digs at Condolezza Rice, saying "no wonder black people don't want her." Yow.
