It Just Gets Messier From Here

In a strange new twist of the Mell-Blago Saga, Capital Fax has been doggedly reporting the unravelling relationship between Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Mell captain, Dominic Longo. Longo, once convicted of voter fraud, and now the head of Alderman Dick Mell's patronage organization, The Coalition for Better Government, has recently sent the Governor (who's real first name is apparently "Milorad") a cease and desist letter for defamation, claiming that the Governor should stop saying he doesn't know him. And then Capital Fax comes up with a picture of Milorad and Dominic.

Longo's embrace of the Governor is definately painful for him, considering Longo's long, questionable career. The Daily Southtown's Kristen McQuery says as much in her column Sunday. But we "work hard and honorably", Longo says in a response letter last Wednesday. Maybe so, but that's not what the court of public opinion seems to think, and this whole thing is turning into a big mess for the governor. How much you wanna bet the picture of those two shows up in a November 2006 Republican political mailer?
