Shots Fired In Peoria High School

By Sam Bakken in News on Jan 26, 2005 10:19PM

1_2005_woodruff.jpgAt around 9:00 a.m. today on the third floor of Woodruff High School in Peoria, someone fired three shots during a fight (that ended right quick when the gat was brandished) between classes. There were no injuries and the school was on lockdown for 3 hours as police searched the building for a 15-year-old male, the alleged gunman. The school provided buses for parents to keep warm while they waited outside the school.

WMBD ("Peoria's News and Talk Station") had quotes from two students:

"I got pushed, and he shot at him. I ran downstairs, and a couple of more bullets were shot."
Another student...tells WMBD's Denise Molina: "Everyone was screaming and everything, like a massive crowd starts running through the hallway. 'There's a gun! There's a gun!' I ran out of the building. People were in classes on lockdown. People said there was two African-American people that got in a fight, gun shooting. Everyone was running."

That's some horrifying shit. AND politically correct! The youth ARE learning something! The schools ARE working! Police had a suspect in custody at 12:15 p.m. The school was back in session for students who wanted stay and will be open tomorrow.

This incident may stain Peoria's reputation as one of the most well-mannered cities in the nation. Unless the shooter asked politely, "Excuse me fine sir, since we are engaged in a bit of a tussle would you mind if I discharged a few rounds in your general direction for intimidation's sake?" But really it probably depends on whether or not the shooter waited for an answer.
