Chick Lit Hits the Stage

I'm a Female...Seeking a Male from http://www.theatrebuildingchicago.org/

During these long, bleak, "Sex and the City"-less winter days, where oh where can single girls (like us) go to learn how to snag a husband?

Well, for starters, they can head on down to the Theatre Building Chicago and the world premiere staging of “I’m a Female…Seeking a Male." Originally intending to write a book, Chicagoan Diana Mucci-Beauchamp was inspired by the relationship disasters of her then-single younger sister and built the story around some serious field research: interviews with 100 single men on why they date, dump, and/or marry the way they do.

According to the official website, “The play is set in a Chicago O'Hare neighborhood bar, where the sisters enjoy cocktails with male locals and transients who, from time to time, emerge from the scene to tell all to Julia, the elder of the two. Believing single life a much more attractive option than marriage, she comically narrates the story of how her younger sister, Shelly, eventually drags herself back into the dating scene and finds true love.”

We’re not so sure about the whole “transient” reference (we’ve got visions of hobos & carnies dancing in our heads), and find it curious that they would choose to give away the ending like that, but we're suckers for hometown-born-and-bred stories about nice single girls (like us) who succeed in romance.
