Chicago Rush Open Season

Due only to a flu outbreak in the Chicagoist sports bureau this weekend, the season opener of the Chicago Rush Arena League Football team was slightly overlooked. Facing the Dallas Desperados, the Rush suffered a 66-65 defeat in OT. The Rush took the risky move of going for a 2-point conversion following a touchdown, but couldn't convert. They could have kicked the extra point and sent the game into 2OT.
The Rush look to bounce back, however. The Rush went 11-5 last season and shared the Central Division title with the Colorado Crush, before losing in the semifinals to the eventual champion San Jose SaberCats. They look to compete for the title again this season, lead by veterans Bob McMillen, John Moyer and Jamie McGourty. Yeah, Chicagoist hasn't heard of them either.
This Sunday, the Rush play their home opener at Allstate Arena, against the Philadelphia Soul. The Philly football team not playing the Super Bowl. However, that hasn't stopped new Rush owner Mike Ditka from spending his time trash talking about Eagles players instead. Of course, he probably doesn't know any Arena Football League players either.
