2_2005_body.jpgLooking for an alternative way to celebrate black history month? Have we ever got the option for you! Head on over to the Museum of Science and Industry to check out Gunther von Hagen's BODY WORLDS The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies. The exhibit opens today and runs through Sept. 5.

While you're there you can do your part to uphold a variation of MLK Jr.'s hope that his children would someday live in a "...nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character," by not judging the specimens by the contents of that skin either (HI-OH!).

The exhibit includes over 200 pieces, from entire bodies to single organs, that were at one time living and have been preserved using Hagen's plastination technique. We'd try to explain it, but we're not scientists and it totally gives us the creeps. We can tell you that vacuums, saws and silicone rubbers are involved.
