Great Lakes Aid

Lake MIIt's not Live Aid - they helped fight an African famine. It's not Farm Aid - they help America's farmers. It's Great Lakes Aid - a series of concerts in American and Canadian cities to raise money for environmental projects that will benefit the Great Lakes.

The Great Lakes Aid (GLA) foundation will be HQed in PA and organizers plan to start the concerts next year. They're hoping that they can have annual concerts hosted by the 5 largest Great Lakes cities - Toronto, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago and Buffalo. In between these big city venues, organizers are going to try to do shows in smaller lakeside cities. They're thinking the first concert would be in Chicago - Soldier Field with it's 61,500 lakeside seats would be the perfect setting.

The GLA thinks they can raise about $2 million/year to benefit the lakes. To that we say "Hallelujah!" because, as we reported last summer, our lake is full of shit, literally, and we'd like to be able to dip our toes in after a day on the beach without being grossed out.
