Officials announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification of anyone involved in the Lefkow murders at a press conference this morning. GET THEM FUCKERS!
Earlier this week Matthew Hale, awaiting sentencing on his conviction of plotting the murder of Judge Lefkow, released a statement through his mother saying, "There is simply no way that any supporter of mine would commit such a heinous crime. I totally condemn it and I want the perpetrator caught and prosecuted...Only an idiot would think I would do this before my sentencing date." Mmmkay crazy racist. But there is a way a supporter of yours would commit the crime right? In fact there's videotape of you telling what you thought was a supporter that he could kill the judge "If [he] wish[ed] to, ah, do anything [him]self, you know?" Well maybe the murder of the family is to heinous as the murder of Lefkow herself is to not so heinous. OK. We get it now.
At the press conference U.S. Marshal Kim Widup was sure to point out though that they had no suspects (the sketches are of two men people had seen in Lefkow's neighborhood on Monday) and weren't ruling out any leads.
Sneed mentions in her column today that one of the sketches looks a lot like a man standing next to Matthew Hale in a New York Times photograph of him and some of his followers. Police released the sketches on Wednesday around 9pm and the Sun-Times reports that between then and Thursday afternoon 78 people had called in with tips (they've received over 200 tips since the slayings on Monday). At the bottom of MSNBC's story there's some information on previous attacks on judges.
