The Funny Club Show

"Funny Club" is the name of the figure featured in a new exhibit at Rotofugi, "The Funny Club Show." And in case you're wondering, the figure is a "hyper-articulated bear/monkey/rabbit/cat figure" by B.B. Birdy of Taiwan. Over 140 artists from all over the US and the world were given a blank Funny Club figure to alter however they wanted. The results are a wide range of customizations varying from simple painted figures to elaborate constructions. Since the figures are a part of a travelling exhibit that will hit LA and Taiwan next, they're not for sale.

However, there will be about 50 extra hand-customized figures commissioned by Rotofugi that will be available for purchase. These 50, mostly by Chicago-based artists like Jay Ryan, Mat Daly, Dianna Sudd, eThos, Revise CMW, Justin Goh, Paul Nudd, JoJo, Vaugnda Johnson, Jeremiah Ketner, Joey Potts, & Krista Peel, can be purchased and will be available to the buyers at the end of the Rotofugi exhibit in early April.

The opening reception tonight begins at 7pm and goes til about 11pm. B.B. Birdy will be there signing figures and Nakanari, who designed several of the Funny Club toys, will also be there. Tobias has music duties and, like always, Rotofugi is serving free beer & wine.
