Book Club for Radio

Chicago Public Radio’s 2005 Third Coast Festival Listening Room Series kicks off tomorrow night at Steppenwolf with Tribune advice columnist Amy Dickinson joining the Third Coast Festival’s Johanna Zorn for an evening of radio listening.

We’ll admit that we’ve never attended a “book club for radio” before (and were heretofore unaware such a thing existed), but clearly that’s because we lead a very narrow life. The Third Coast International Audio Festival celebrates feature and documentary radio programs, and its public listening series allows regular folk like us all “to listen to and discuss audio work in a theatre setting” with a variety of Chicago Public Radio producers and special guest stars.

Dickinson will be on hand Wednesday to listen to and talk about stories that focus on “the joys, challenges, rewards and pitfalls of romantic (and/or not-so-romantic) relationships.” No surprises there, but sex is likely to be a hot topic, too, so you’d best get your tickets in advance.
