The Real “Garden in the City” "City in a Garden"

Mini ChicagoEarlier in the week Chicagoist stopped by the Chicago Flower & Garden Show and one of the coolest things there was definately a display called All Aboard, Chicago. In it, miniature trains run past vignettes of 30 local landmarks including Wrigley Field, Trib Tower, the Sears Tower, and the Hancock Building. Pretty much everything in the display is made of natural materials. Like the train trestles that are made from willow twigs and the buildings made of twigs, bark, leaves, acorns, and pebbles.

Is it just us or does the material on the Marina City towers remind you of potato chips? Those would as "natural materials", right?

Also you'll see little tiny Chicagoans and their pets, which are supposed to give the exhibit a "storybook feel." All Aboard, Chicago was designed by award-winning landscape architect Paul Busse and produced by the Chicago Botanic Garden. The Chicago Flower & Garden show runs through March 20th at Navy Pier.
