Bears Bank on XX Year Anniversary

2005_03_sports_bears_football_1985.jpgChicagoist realizes this town likes to reminisce about its past sports glory a little obsesivly (especially when there's been so little of late), but this is just a bit much. Members of the 1985 Chicago Bears team that won Super Bowl XX have established a corporation to market the 20th Anniversary of Super Bowl XX, with the blessing of the Bears organization.

The group received the official blessing from Halas Hall -- including the rights to use the team logo and name -- in return for 30 members of the team appearing over the weekend at the Bears Fan Convention. Among those in attendance were "Jim Covert, Richard Dent, Dave Duerson, Gary Fencik, Les Frazier, Willie Gault, Shaun Gayle, Jay Hilgenberg, Dennis McKinnon, Steve McMichael, Emery Moorehead, William "Refrigerator" Perry, Tom Thayer, Keith Van Horne and Otis Wilson." What, no Jimmy Mac?

2005_03_sports_bears_team_1985.jpgThe group even has a website up and running at www.85worldchamps.com, which inlcudes info about the players, an online store and even the chance to book-a-champ. Maybe we could get Matt Suhey to appear at some future Chicagoist happy hour? Anyway, Chicagoist is really hoping that they add more products to the store. We really want a 5'x3' poster of the team photo just like the one we had on our wall in 3rd grade.
