Brown Line Closures, Universal Card Nixed

2005_03_kedzie.jpgWe all know that the Brown Line is being renovated and that some stations are going to close.. uh.. for some period of time, but if you're like us you're still confused as hell. Well, over the weekend we found this helpful, easy-to-read table on the CTA site that lists the Brown Line stations, tells how long they'll be under construction, how long they'll be closed and details of their closure. Take a look here. The dates of closure still aren't there, but at least we've got a better idea now.

In other transit news, a plan to design a universal fare card is officially on hold now. The idea was to make one card that could be used on Metra, Pace and CTA vehicles. The $60 million it would cost is a bit more than anyone can handle when funds for mass transit are so scarce right now. Officials say they'll reconsider a universal farecard.. uh.. when they strike it rich. Or something.
