Crack is Candy.. To Crackheads!

2005_03_backpack.jpgLast week a 4-year-old boy found 40 bags of crack in his knapsack and brought it to school, thinking it was candy. 40 bags.. why, that's just enough to hand one out to every kid in his 1st grade Chicago Heights class during recess. Rock candy for everyone!

As of yesterday, police were still looking for the mother or a relative of the boy. Get this, Michael Camilli, deputy chief of the Chicago Heights PD, says the 1st grader will not be charged with a crime. How he said that with a straight face, we don't know. Of course the little kid won't be charged with dealing drugs, GET HIS PARENTS who put the drugs in his school bag! The boy obvs lived in a house where drugs were sold and someone thought his backpack was a great place to hide their crack.

When Chicagoist was 4 years old you could have handed us anything and said it was candy and we'd have gobbled it up in 2.3 seconds flat. Apparently when this kid handed out his crack and said it was candy kids were more skeptical. Within 4-5 minutes the school recovered all the bags he'd handed out. Nobody ate the crack candy and no one was hurt.
