Holla For Lolla

Gaper’s Block alerted us to some big music festival news: Lollapalooza will return this summer. Bad news? It’s only playing one city. Good news? The city is Chicago. Nice.
Marc Geiger, one of the founders of the original Lollapalooza, will help bring Lollapalooza to Chicago from July 23rd to 24th. Perry Farrell is also involved in a “creative capacity.” Though the new Lolla website goes live on Friday, the festival lineup won’t be announced mid-April.
While we’re thrilled at the possibility of going to Lolla without having to trek all the way to Tinley Park, Chicagoist is trying not to get too excited about this. Last year’s tour was scrapped due to poor ticket sales. Plus, when did the city get so relaxed about having all those crazy rock and roll kids in Grant Park? Previous Herculean attempts to book bands for outdoor shows have been thwarted left and right. We can’t imagine what might have $uddenly $wayed the powers-that-be.
Pardon us now as we daydream about who the lineup might include...
UPDATE: Guess we weren't the only ones daydreaming. Contactmusic.com is reporting that Beck, The Killers and Kings of Leon are slated to appear.
