Shamrock Shuffle Sunday

Chicagoist wonders why this event isn't held a bit closer to St. Patrick's Day? The name seems kind of strange for an April event, but nonetheless this Sunday the 26th annual Shamrock Shuffle 8k race and 5k fitness walk take place starting at 9:30 am. Yeah, kind of early on a Sunday, especially when you lose an hour of sleep the night before! At least the weather's expected to be pretty ideal with a forecast high of 64 with some sun.
The new course layout provides more room for the 22,500 runners to spread out and start/finish lines that resemble the setup for Chicago's Marathon, making the Shuffle good for those training for that event.
From 10:30-2:00 is the Post-Race Party that's open only to participants and one guest each. But Chicagoist fears people storming the gates to see Poi Dog Pondering play -- they're only expected to play 50 or 60 more times this year in town! Except that'd require giving up that place in line for brunch at the Bongo Room. But oh, what a rockin' party it'll be on a Sunday morning when half the attendees just finished a race and the other half are still waiting for their Starbucks to kick in.
